The Kary Project

In Honor of Dr. Karyanne Duncan

When the men of Duncan Hall learned that their benefactor, Dr. Karyanne Duncan, was battling cancer in the fall of 2021, they rallied around her to show their support and solidarity. Duncan Hall partnered with BeTheMatch to host a bone marrow donor registration drive in honor of Dr. Karyanne Duncan. The full story can be found here, on the BeTheMatch website. Dr. Karynaane Duncan is a cancer survivor and is doing well.

Started by a Duncan Hall Resident Assistant, Kyle Moon, the 2021 inaugural swab drive registered 68 potential donors and as of fall 2022, three donors have matched and agreed to undergo further testing to potentially become a bone marrow donor. Photos.

The Second Annual Kary Project, a four-day drive, started in Duncan Hall and finished at the Duncan Student Center in front of the Duncan Family portrait collected 384 swab samples. Photos. In summer 2023, a Duncan resident saved a life by donating his bone marrow and another resident is scheduled for a donation in November 2023.
