Your Home Away From Home
Duncan Hall is a gift from the late Raymond T. Duncan and was completed in 2008. Our mascot is the Highlander, which is a tribute to the Duncan Family’s Scottish lineage.
Location
We are located on the west end of West Quad and are the only dorm overlooking the Burke Golf Course. Despite being nestled by the golf course, Duncan is only a minute walk to South Dining Hall and the Rockne Memorial Gym. We also enjoy being adjacent to McGlinn fields, a multi-purpose grass area that is used for section sports and West Quad events (ie WestFest). The bookstore and its infamous basketball courts (Bookstore Basketball) are also within a minute walk from Duncan Hall.
Signature Events
We are known for several traditions on campus, most visibly our green blazers that we wear on Football Fridays. Highlander Highrise is our signature winter formal that takes place at the top floor of Chicago’s tallest building, the Willis Tower. Other fun events we host throughout the year include SYR, Duncan/Ryan Week, Masters Week, ND110, The Dunkies, Parents Weekend, and many more.
Your Next Steps
In addition to keeping up with the University’s summer to-do list, we suggest you begin preparing now for your move to campus. Although not required, it is a good idea to reach out to your roommate(s) to coordinate what items you are going to bring. We have provided more information about room size, furniture, and mailing below to help you out. If you have any questions, contact your section RA or one of the Welcome Weekend captains listed at the bottom of this page. We’re here to help!

Ah, the most important question for an incoming Domer. Usually the ticket office opens the registration for student season tickets toward the end of the summer. Keep your eyes peeled for an email.

Duncan Hall has a small gym in the basement that can be used for most strength exercises. If you want more equipment to choose from, the Rockne Memorial Gym is only a minute walk from Duncan Hall.
